Abstract: The Vedas, the foundational texts of ancient Indian civilization, are often regarded as spiritual and philosophical treatises. However, embedded within their hymns and verses lies a rich repository of scientific thought. This paper explores the scientific dimensions of the Vedas, shedding light on how ancient Indian seers perceived and conceptualized the natural world. From cosmology and astronomy to mathematics, medicine (Ayurveda), and ecology, the Vedas offer insights that parallel or predate several modern scientific ideas. By critically examining Vedic verses and comparing them with contemporary scientific understanding, this study seeks to bridge the gap between ancient wisdom and modern inquiry. It also reflects on the methodological challenges of interpreting ancient texts through a scientific lens, and discusses the implications of recognizing indigenous knowledge systems in today’s global scientific discourse. Ultimately, the paper advocates for a balanced and scholarly approach that respects both the historical context of the Vedas and the rigor of modern science.
