It typically begins around the 6th week of pregnancy, peaking between the 8th and 12th weeks, and generally resolves by the end of the first trimester. However, in some women, these symptoms may persist longer or even last throughout the entire pregnancy.
It is estimated that approximately 70% to 80% of pregnant women experience nausea and vomiting to some degree, with about 50% to 60% of women experiencing vomiting as well. The cause of Nausea and vomiting during pregnancy is thought to be primarily hormonal, as levels of human chorionic gonadotropin oestrogen, and progesterone increase rapidly during early pregnancy.
Methodology of this study is an observational quantitative evaluative approach was used for the study. Post test control group design was selected for the study. The samples were recruited by probability simple randomized sampling technique. The total number of subjects was 60 with 30 subjects each in group-I (Experimental group) & group II (Control group). Main study was conducted in the selected hospitals of Indore, according to inclusive and exclusive criteria. Informed consent from the patients was obtained prior to data collection process. Data was collected by administering a PUQE FORM of Nausea and Vomiting Scale by the investigator before and after the intervention 'Ginger tea'. Post-test was conducted after2 hours. Data were analysed using descriptive and inferential statistics (Paired & Unpaired t' test, chi-square test).
Researcher paired t' test was applied. The mean pre intervention and post intervention scores of nausea and vomiting were compared in the control Group. The mean pre intervention score was 22.95土4.31 and mean post intervention score was 19.25土5.33. The researcher paired t' test was applied to find out the statistical difference between the two means. The t' value obtained was 6.048 at a degree of freedom of 29, and P value obtained was 0.000, which is statistically highly significant. Thus, there was a statistically significant change seen in the mean pre intervention and post intervention.
